243. san francisco’s japantown in the fading afternoon light
a concrete abstraction of a pagoda grows tall in japantown
a marker that overstates the obvious
a bird soars high in the distance
from its vantage point
it becomes part of the ever changing canvas that is the sky in san francisco
clouds become ink
subject to the brushstrokes of the wild winds of the pacific
in the subtle qualities of the western light
